A beautiful and vibrant hydrangea vase with ginbari foil on Cloisonn'e. Meiji period, late 19th Century

Possibly by Adachi Kinjiro although its impossible to say for sure without further evidence. I have seen similar by the same artist before.

The tapering vase with everted neck, copper mounts, decorated in various coloured translucent enamels over thinly hammered foil, and worked in various thicknesses of silver wire on a deep blue ground, with branches and sprays of multi coloured hydrangea.

The way the translucent enamel and foil have been used to give perspective and depth to the flower heads and leaves is remarkable.

Good Condition for such a delicate vase. Minor imperfections.

Height 9.5" x 4.5"
